These things get a little complicated.

Generally, straight pledges toward a campaign which are not turned into rewards are not taxed.

If a specific Reward is claimed, that portion of your pledge will generally be taxed if the reward is a taxable good or service.

If a reward needs to be shipped, their will be additional S&H fees as determined by the Creator.

When a Creator decides to offer rewards for a campaign, they will be expected to update the campaign with estimates and policies around how they will handle additional S&H and Taxes.

Fortunately, we’ll be here to help guide them (though it is ultimately their responsibility and all contracts for delivery of the campaign exist solely between the Creator and Fan) and we’re using Stripe and BackerKit for a reason–to keep things transparent, professional and smoothe.

For our International Fans

Wherever possible we want to include you too! If a Creator opts to include worldwide shipping for a given reward, that option will be stated clearly for that reward. In most cases there will be an added cost for accommodating worldwide S&H above the standard domestic US rate.

If a Creator opts not to offer worldwide S&H, those Fans with an international address on file at the time of their previous pledge may apply to rescind their pledge within 14 days of the campaign being updated to reflect that limitation.
