Distribution of Limited Rewards

Occasionally, a campaign will offer rewards in limited quantities—either out of necessity (they only have time and materials to make a limited number) or to elevate the experience or value proposition of the reward offered (a 1/100 numbered print run for example).

Because our model encourages Fans to pledge and build momentum before Creators set all the reward details, we offer a more dynamic path for distribution of any rewards that are limited in nature and seeks to provide fair, level access and value to all stakeholders and Fans.

Limited rewards are distributed through several different channels with some flexibility in working with Creators, but with this general overall approach as the standard:

Creator’s 10% Share

For limited rewards, 10% of the available rewards may be distributed in any manner the Creator elects, while the remaining rewards must be made available to pledging Fans through the standard ranked and market rate channels established for limited rewards.

Distribution of the 90% Fan Share

The breakdown of the remaining limited rewards allocated to the three separate distribution channels will be as follows:

Market Rate Pool

A minimum of 10%, and up to 33% of the remaining rewards will be set aside for the separate ‘Market Rate’ pool to be issued via a simple ranked list matching the top pledges in this pool to the available rewards in the pool when the pool closes. The Creator has discretion to set this pool at between 10-33% of the total.

‘Early’ and ‘Generous’ Ranked Pools

All remaining rewards after the Market Pool election (of 10-33%) will be divided equally between the ranked pools of ‘Early’ and ‘Generous’ Fans.

Example 1

If the Market Rate pool was set at 33% of the Fan Share, that leaves 66% to be split evenly between the ranked pools, for an overall equal distribution of 33% to all 3 pools.

Alternatively,

Example 2

If the Market Rate pool was set at the minimum 10% of the Fan Share, that leaves 90% to be split evenly between the ranked pools, so the Early and Generous pools would each receive 45% of the Fan Share.

A quick note on limited, assigned seat tickets or value tiers

Where the limited reward is a ticket and tickets have assigned value tiers (ie. premium front rows vs. balcony) each tier will be similarly apportioned so that each distribution channel has equivalent access. Additionally, where the tickets have assigned seats, tickets will be assigned on any reasonable basis at the complete discretion of the Creator.

‘The Vault Copy’

We work with every Creator to build into their campaign targets one complimentary reward for our ‘corporate vault’ so to speak.

There are two main reasons for this:

  1. It serves as a real quality check and reference point for us to gauge how campaigns are functioning beyond their funding endpoint on our site.

Once we hand over the funds to the Creators, the project is entirely theirs to deliver, yet we have obvious investment in tracking how things progress and understanding our Fan community experience so we can potentially identify ways to improve the overall experience for Fans and Creators as we continue to evolve and grow.

  1. It’s also, quite honestly, us simply being Fans too and wanting to preserve a bit of the history of our endeavor, and we’re entirely confident that we can help Creators bake this small cost into their targets so that it never acts as a significant barrier to Campaign success.
