What are limited rewards?
Occasionally, a campaign will offer rewards in limited quantities—either out of necessity (they only have time and materials to make a limited number) or to elevate the experience or value proposition of the reward offered (a 1/100 numbered print run for example).
These ‘limited rewards’ stand in contrast to the more typical, general ‘rewards’ that are unlimited (though they don’t bear that nomenclature) and which are claimed in the more traditional, straightforward manner of allowing anyone and everyone to ‘see it & claim it’ for the given price.
Because our model encourages Fans to pledge and build momentum before Creator’s set all the reward details, we offer a more dynamic path for distribution of any rewards that are limited in nature and seek to provide fair, level access and value to all stakeholders and Fans.
How are limited rewards made available to Fans?
In campaigns where rewards are limited, those rewards will be made available to Fans primarily on the basis of their pledge level, with a priority given to Fans who joined the campaign early.
If the limited reward is the primary goal, and a Fan is unable to secure an opportunity to select this reward, they may elect to have their pledge cancelled.
For example (Using concert tickets, but any limited reward operates similarly):
A successful campaign for a revival of a play might only be able to offer 1000 tickets—due to the size of the venue and the full run of the show—but 1500 Fans have pledged.
Fans will have an opportunity to claim tickets in one of three ways:
Pledge EARLY
Pledging early–in ANY amount–increases your odds of securing access. Based on when Fans made their pledge, a portion of the tickets will be made available to Fans on a first/come first served basis with each Fan in line having an opportunity to claim the reward (topping up their existing pledge as required) or passing and allowing the next Fan in line the opportunity.
Note, if a Fan elects NOT to claim their reward for any reason, their existing pledge will still be processed and may be reshuffled toward other rewards if available or will simply default to a general pledge of support.
Pledge GENEROUSLY
Pledging more generously than other Fans before the Creator has signed on to the campaign increases your odds of scoring access. By ranking pledge levels made prior to the campaign reaching ‘Target Set’ status, Fans who have made the most significant pledges to help build momentum will be given priority access to a portion of the tickets. Where 2 or more Fans have made equal pledges, the priority will be given to the Fan who made the earlier pledge.
For Fans who are unable to secure tickets through either of these ranked pools there is one final additional opportunity via the Market Rate pool.
Pledge MARKET RATE
Pledging toward limited rewards will also be available in a subsequent, separate pool of tickets reserved for a simple, highest price auction-style system matching the top pledges made during the pledge window to the available number of rewards in the pool.
This is our way of ensuring that dedicated Fans who missed out on either primary ranked distribution channel, still have 1 final shot to secure tickets.
Fans pledge what the value of securing one of the limited rewards is worth to them, with the same limit of 4 rewards per Fan applying.
So for instance, if a Fan values a ticket at $100 and makes that pledge, and that amount subsequently qualifies them to claim tickets from this pool, they may claim up to 4 at $100 per ticket (provided there are 4 available) at which point, the next Fan in the queue will have the chance to claim rewards from the remaining pool of available tickets at their pledged level.
The qualifying list of pledges in the Market Pool is not publicly visible, and Fans will not be informed whether their pledge secures them a reward until the pool officially closes.
Any pledge in this pool that is unsuccessful will automatically NOT be processed. ONLY those pledges that successfully qualify will be processed.
What about Fans who don’t claim an eligible limited reward?
If any Fans choose not to claim their reward in either the ‘Early’ or ‘Generous’ ranked pools, this will open up slots for the next Fans in the corresponding list until all available rewards are claimed.
Their existing pledge will still be processed and can either be reshuffled toward other available rewards or it will simply default to a general pledge of support.
What if I miss out on a limited reward but made a pledge?
If the limited reward is the primary goal, and a Fan is unable to secure an opportunity to select this reward, they may elect to have their pledge cancelled.
However, please note that if a campaign offers both a primary general reward (in keeping with the original campaign) as well as a special limited reward added later, any Fan pledging toward the campaign prior to the limited rewards posting will have their pledges honored and processed regardless of their ability to access the limited rewards. These pledges may be reshuffled toward any other available rewards or defaulted to a general pledge of support.
