Open Ended by Design
FanFuture campaigns are open-ended when they launch, as the duration and required funding goals are undetermined until the intended Creator sets those targets.
Typical Reasons for Closed Campaigns
Campaign Successfully Funds
Campaigns generally close because the Fans have met the Creator’s funding target before any deadline set. Campaigns will always have a minimum 14 day window from the moment a campaign funds for Fans to pile on, at which point the campaign generally closes.
Campaign Fails to Fund
Sometimes, Fans fail to reach the necessary funding goals before the deadline set. When this happens the Campaign automatically closes, and no pledges are processed.
Campaign Reboots
Occasionally, Creator’s will use this down time to re-tool the campaign and work with us and their Fans to re-imagine a more enticing future together. Creator’s may always reboot a closed Campaign, however all prior pledges will have a 14 day window within which to request a pledge withdrawal upon re-boot, and any 6 month window for withdrawal will still be in play–from a Fan’s INITIAL pledge date.
Campaign Closed Upon Creator’s Request
FanFuture only works when it is a genuine win-win for Fans and Creators.
For a variety of reasons, Creator’s sometimes ask us to close campaigns–either to narrow the focus on campaigns they find more promising, or to ensure that their Fans don’t get their hopes up for a non-starter of a campaign etc.
The reasons don’t matter to us, if asked we’re happy to close any campaign a Creator desires closed.
Closed & Archived vs Closed & Hidden
As a general rule, we try to keep closed campaigns archived so that Fans and Creators can always find a record of what has and hasn’t succeeded as they imagine other possible futures.
However, upon request by a Creator we may hide the closed campaign from the border Fan Community.
*note* that successful closed campaigns will always remain visibly Archived for pledging Fans under their own profile page, whereas failed campaigns may be hidden entirely.
